The Caribbean Association of Customs Brokers (CACUB) Biennial Conference 2025 in Miami brought together brokers, logistics providers, and trade leaders to discuss the future of trade in the region. It was an opportunity to exchange ideas on bonded warehouses, express shipping, security, and technology — all areas that directly impact how brokers operate every day.

One of the highlights was the Broker Genius presentation, where Lynn spoke on The AI Shift and the value of artificial intelligence in driving automation, efficiency, and better decision-making. She also explored opportunities for the Caribbean to strengthen competitiveness through AI and shared practical tools that can help with everyday tasks. Wilson followed with a live demo of Broker Genius, showing how brokers can cut hours of manual work by automating invoice data extraction, HS code classification, and XML generation. The session demonstrated how brokers can handle more declarations with fewer errors — without increasing staff.

The conference also included a PortMiami tour led by experts Stanley Rigaud, Head of Intermodal Cargo Development at PortMiami, and Eric Borrazas, Cargo Coordinator in Global Trade & Business Development. They provided an in-depth look at import and export trade between the Caribbean and the U.S.

Attendees explored the role of Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs) in Miami-Dade County, which open new opportunities for brokers to streamline logistics and link regional trade with global supply chains. Experiencing these operations firsthand underscored how every declaration connects to the wider port ecosystem — and how innovation in brokerage can directly support faster, more efficient trade flows.

The Caribbean Association of Customs Brokers (CACUB) 2025 Conference was a valuable opportunity to learn, share, and gain perspective on the challenges and opportunities shaping trade in our region. From discussions on technology and compliance to seeing port operations firsthand, the experience offered meaningful insights into how the brokerage profession is evolving. We leave with a deeper understanding of the road ahead and appreciation for the role brokers continue to play in keeping Caribbean trade moving.
